I am a MOM of three boys, one girl and a dog and the WIFE of a handsome guy. I’m a TEACHER by trade and a MOTHER by choice. We switch back and forth between public school and homeschooling. I LOVE living in rural IDAHO among the cow pastures and under the big blue sky.

Wendy – Great job with your blog! I enjoyed getting a small taste of your life. Congrats to your hubby on Iron-Man! What a fantastic time. Someday I’ll get there not in time but in completing the iron distance. I have dabbled in short tris but have focused on bball and distance running. I have a couple of 50s under my belt. Rebbie and I are doing well. We love living in Dallas. Have 4 wenderful kids to brag about… I’m heading to Guilford in a few days for my 21st reunion. It should be interesting. I’m happy for you – you sound great. Take care, Todd. PS: I can’t believe how much Jennifer looks like your mom did 22 years ago.
Wendy,
I don’t know if you remember me, but I was a classmate of yours and Ralf’s at Daniel Hand. I didn’t get a chance to talk to you at the reunion, but my friend Katie did and casually mentioned your blog to me. A few days after the reunion, curiosity compelled me to do a Google search to find your blog. I have to admit I’ve been lurking here ever since, anxiously awaiting your next installment. Your posts are so real and the parenting stories and struggles are very familiar, even though I live in the suburbs, 2000 miles away and my children attend public school. I, too, have tried to understand this phenomenon called Pokemon that has a language unto itself. Your letter to Benjamin Moore came just six weeks after I had spent an eternity choosing Benjamin Moor colors with crazy names for 3 bathrooms, 4 bedrooms and my kitchen. The color we selected for a bedroom was called something like “Quiet Moments” which reminded me of the Cialis commercial!!!! Your list of what not to bring to church should be a must read for all parents who attend church with young children. Your list would have been so helpful to me years ago when I foolishly brought many of the items on your “not to bring” list to church, much to the dismay of my fellow churchgoers. And your post on your return trip to Madison and the reunion was priceless! (While I still live in Connecticut, I no longer live in Madison and rarely even get back for a visit.) Your stories are so relatable and you have a beautiful writing style that conveys the emotion we as mothers all share.
Anyway, I just wanted to drop you a quick note and let you know how much I enjoy reading your blog. Your writing is just as beautiful as your family and I wish you all continued health and happiness!
Sincerely,
Moira “Cronan” Lowe – fellow DHHS Class of ’88 Alumni
Hi Mrs. Wenderful!
I don’t know if you remember me but I’m friends with Maddy all the way from good ol’ D-ville. I’m glad to hear that you and your family are doing well(: Hope you guys visit soon!
Allison(:
ps. Say hi to everyone for me(:
Gorgeous blog, Wendy. So lovely! Congratulations on your column gig, too.
Hi Wendy… I stumbled across your blog looking for castration pictures. We just received 2 steers and I wanted to ensure they were adequately ‘fixed’ as we had a bit of an issue last year. I didn’t read the whole nutty response thing…, but I can just imagine… Anyways what I wanted to say was how TOTALLY impressed I was with The Omnivore’s Dilema. Changed my food choices. I also recommend his next book, In Defense of Food. There is another book out there from the UK… Not on the Lable…Felicity Lawerence….very interesting read, though sometimes a little bleak. For a nicer, easier to take, encouraging book, I also recommend Animal Vegetable Miracle… Barbara Kingsolver. Her and her family eat from their garden and very local for a year. Makes it all seem very doable… reading her perspective. I encourage you to keep up the good work. Connie Campbell.
How cool to get to know you – that is not your house, come on! Wow, you are just gorgeous and so are you kids – hubby is probably good-lookin’, but it’s hard to tell in the photo up there; )
Come visit me – xJ

Wow! Your house is amazing! Too perfect.. Martha Stewart stuff going on there. One day. You have a beautiful family. I am actually visiting from SITS. I love your blog!
Just gave you and Blogger Buffet some love on my site Wendy!
Your house is beautiful! We also have an orange half-bath with the white wainscotting. My oldest son insisted on it when we moved into our house last year. We let his younger brother pick their bedroom color so he thought it was only fair. 🙂 I see you’re an Idahoan too. Can I ask where? Your house looks like the ones out by my parents who are in Middleton. I’m in Meridian. 🙂
